I just stumpled upon this imprint today and I’m fairly impressed. They seem to be working on the un/found sounds philosophy – releasing free quality dance music and building a following for open-source philosophy.. but then selling high-quality releases on a sister label that helps finance the cause.
From the Vekton site – “Vekton Musik was founded in 2004 by Mandy Jordan and Daniel Madlung aka Exec Bat. Vekton Musik is now a mp3 label and an artist pool for the Vekton musicans. It stands for new, fresh, innovativ, danceable, futuristic, high level electronic music and music performances with new innovativ technologies. Since july 2007, Vekton became a real mp3 label, to share music all over world in the download shops. We don‘t call our sound “Minimal” we call it “High Tech Soul”, the new electronic sound prementioned in an interview with Derrick May in Debug magazine 2007. A perfect term for this kind of techno music. We are allways searching for the new sound, new artists and fresh music… Watch out for vekton musik showcase partys in the future…”
This month Vekton releases a free single from Adrian Garza.. a haunting minimal tech piece that is rather good (especially for free.) Check out “Nightmare” and “Sting” HERE.
